August 8th, 2011 John D. Byers calls in to Open House
On August 8, 2011 the most horrific and vulgar display possible, a member of the Elks of Medford bashing a disabled person. John Donald Byers not only attacked a man with a disability, he attacked his own son, to the horror of show host Carl Galusi a.k.a. Ziggy Bush

A little background on the individual who phoned in to a PUBLIC ACCESS TV STATION to publicly speak about his public figure son who is running for Mayor.
John Donald Byers is a part-time resident of Medford, he lives in Fort Myers Florida and claims to be homesteaded down there, though we don't know if he stays there six months of the year...or if that even matters. He allegedly goes down there at the end of December and comes back the last week of April first week of May. Snowbird. Is that six months? Allegedly his cars in Ft Myers have Florida license plates and he allegedly has a temporary license plate up here in Massachusetts.

John Donald Byers: Hello Ziggy Hey Ziggy
Ziggy: "who's this?"
John Donald Byers: John Byers Sr.
Ziggy: John Byers Sr, you haven't got in your car to drive to Florida yet? (allegedly he doesn't drive to Florida; he flies)
JDB: It's way too early, Ziggy, way too early.
Ziggy: All right
JDB: Way too early
Ziggy: It's always great to have you call in. What can we talk about?
John Donald Byers: Well, I just want to talk about my son.
Ziggy Bush: OK
John Donald Byers: I'm not happy what he's doing. Also, Michael McGlynn has done a great job here in the city. We have a great city here in Medford. I was born here 65 years ago - my family is from here - we've been here for 75 years.
Uh...I'm not happy what he does (John the candidate), and what he's talking about. Uh, he's never had a job. (INCORRECT, John worked for two well-known Medford establishments, Zayre's and Papa Ginos). He doesn't do anything.
Carl Galusi/Ziggy Bush: He wants to run for Mayor and he's running.
John Donald Byers (maliciously snickers in a nasty, condescending tone)
Carl Galusi/Ziggy Bush: He's looking for a job, I guess (since he's running for Mayor)
John Donald Byers: We're not voting for him. We're not voting for him. Michael's doing a great job. He's an embarrassment to us. Not very happy with it. But, oh, just to let you know, you and your listeners and everybody - Chris - I listen to him - uhm - we're not happy at all with him." (EDITOR'S NOTE: What, is John Byers Sr. schizophrenic? Who is the "we're" in "we're not voting for him" - Byers speaks as if the entire family is on his side, but fact of the matter is, as this editor told Byers after he phoned me earlier this week"You cheated on your family; you left your wife and children for another woman." So consider the source that is the long-time member of the Medford Elks club, John D. Byers couldn't be trusted as a family man, as a father and husband; now read what that individual has to say about his own flesh and blood and cringe. It's blood curdling, isn't it?)

John Donald Byers: C'mon Ziggy. Zig, Zig, c'mon. I was born at night, but not last night. Heh heh heh (more mocking, condescending tones, snickering at his own son)
Ziggy Bush: Well, he's got good intentions, right?

You feel that, in your way, you're not supporting him...you, you are very happy with our present Mayor and you're upset that your son is running against him and you have given us the reason why. According to a reliable source, John Donald Byers phoned his own daughter on September 2, 2011 and said that he wished his ex wife and that his son, John Byers, were both dead.

AFTER THIS ENTIRE DEBACLE, THE VERY NEXT DAY, CARL CALLED CANDIDATE BYERS TO APOLOGIZE; HE WAS VERY APOLOGETIC. THE NEXT WEEK THE CANDIDATE APOLOGIZED TO ZIGGY FOR HOW HIS OWN FATHER ATTACKED ZIGGY (BY BEING SO CONDESCENDING) AND ATTACKED THE CANDIDATE.
You must be sponsored by a member of the Elks Lodge and reside in the jurisdiction of the Lodge you wish to join. You also need two other Elks who will be your co-sponsors. The Elk who proposes you for membership must obtain a Membership Application from the Lodge Secretary.
After your proposer fills in the required portion, you will be given the Application for Membership. Fill it in, following the instructions and answering all questions. Return the completed application to the Lodge Secretary.
